Review GOWRAN PARK 13th Aug
< Katiyra earned a deserved first success of the season when landing the Listed Irish Stallion Farms EBF Hurry Harriet Stakes at Gowran Park.
John Oxx's charge, third behind Look Here in the Epsom Oaks and fifth in the Irish equivalent at the Curragh, was held up well off the pace by Mick Kinane, before making eye-catching progress to lead on the turn for home.
The well-backed 7/4 favourite was always in the box seat after that and only had to be kept up to her work to register a two-length success over She's Our Mark < Mystical Lady just edged out Aidan O'Brien's Psalm for third place in the extended nine-furlong contest.
Oxx indicated the winner would stay at 10 furlongs and could go for the Blandford Stakes at the Curragh next month.
O'Brien was on the mark earlier when Drumbeat showed a willing attitude and a smart turn of foot to open his account at the fourth attempt in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden.
Asked to squeeze between horses in the closing stages by Seamie Heffernan, the 4-6 favourite accelerated nicely clear, finishing two lengths to the good over Nafaath
The Jim Bolger-trained Kitty Hawk Miss found plenty for pressure to run out a determined winner of the McEnery Cup Handicap.
Kevin Manning was hard at work fully two furlongs out as Deputy Consort and Muskatsturm took the lead, but the 5-2 chance stuck to her task well, eventually beating the former by three-quarters of a length.
Ben Curtis has struck up a solid partnership with Dane Blue and the pair followed up their recent course-and-distance success with victory in the Kilkenny Racing Festival 3rd/4th October Handicap.
Sent off the 4-1 joint-favourite, Dane Blue moved stylishly into a clear lead over two furlongs out and stayed on well to beat Reload by a length.< Optimal Power benefited from a strong Willie Supple drive when getting the better of Tarrsille and land the Rooftop Restaurant At Gowran Park Nursery.
