The Yellow Furze Handicap (Div II) went to the 11/4 favourite Newgirlintown whose win completed a 212/1 treble for Shane Foley who thereby drew level with Colin Keane (75 winners apiece) in the race to be champion jockey.
The Clodovil filly was always close up and led a furlong out before passing the post a length and a half ahead of Giorni Felice (7/2) with Day Dreamin’ (7/1) another three quarters of a length away in third.
This made it three wins and four placings from eight races in 2020 for Ger O’Leary’s charge, whose victory moved the Curragh trainer onto the seven winner mark for the season.
“She was good and deserved that as she's been a model of consistency all year,” said Foley.
“It's great for Ger (O’Leary) who has been good to me all year. They all count now at the moment!
“It's been a good day. I had a quiet run for a couple of weeks with seconds and that so it's good to get back on the scoresheet.”
