A change of tactics worked wonders for Tyrion's Dream as he sprang a 33/1 shock in the second division of the seven-furlong handicap at the Curragh.
Leigh Roche was soon in front on the Dream Ahead gelding and he fought gamely in the closing stages.
Aidan Howard 's charge left his previous form well behind when getting home by half a length from Breaking News
“The last couple of times the jockeys have liked him but said they couldn't get him to carry them so today I told Leigh to bounce out good and handy and it actually worked,” said Howard.
“He works better than the horse (Enter The Red) that finished second earlier on. I actually fancied him today and he handles that ground.
“He's a good work horse but has disappointed on the racecourse and I'm delighted for the owners who had the patience to hang on.
“That might actually have taught him a bit today.”
It was a double on the card for Leigh Roche who had also landed the feature contest on Lustown Baba
