Trainer Patrick Prendergast paid tribute to jockey Chris Hayes following the poignant win of his Dream Sleep in the Christmas Party Nights At Dundalk Handicap (div 2) at Dundalk this evening.
Following the race Prendergast reported “that’s her second run for me and my thanks and condolences to Chris Hayes. He was to ride her tonight but sadly his mother has passed away. He did a very nice job on her and told me to put a visor on.”
He added “Gary substituted well but it’s a bitter sweet one for him too because they are pals.
“This is a very well-bred filly and it was important that I made her a winner as she will be going to stud. She might have one more run.”
Dream Sleep was produced late-on by Halpin to score a three parts of a length win over Little Camacho
