Cullen partners his first winner as trainer
Denis Cullen guided home his first winner as a trainer when Better Times ran out an impressive winner of the bumper at Cork.
Cullen, who took over the reins from father-in-law Michael O'Brien just over a week ago, partnered the Lord Americo gelding to a cosy four-and-a-half length success over Oursininlaw
The pair hit the front two furlongs out and powered clear in the final furlong.
"He's a nice horse and I'd say he's improved a bit from Wexford," said Cullen.
"He's still a big raw shelly type of a horse but with a bit of time and proper management he'll do well.
"I schooled him during the week and he jumps well so I'll have a chat with the owners now and see what to do.
"His pedigree stands up. He's from a good family that included Glebe Lad.
"I'd like to thank Tim Conroy for keeping the horses with me. He has been a good owner for Michael and hopefully I can keep the success going."
