Compelling provides compensation for Lordan & Wachman
The third and final maiden of the evening at Limerick, the Ryan Sheridan Playing Live Maiden for 3yo's and upwards, went to the David Wachman trained, Wayne Lordan ridden Compelling
Kevin Manning just got the better of Wayne Lordan in the previous race but Lordan got his revenge here aboard the daughter of Kingmambo.
The runner-up Vastitas (6/4fav) led the field from the start but was joined by the winner (who raced in second) just over two furlongs out. After a battle Compelling then edging ahead inside the final furlong and stayed on best to score by a length and a quarter at the finish.
This was the 3yo filly's fourth career start having ran her best race on her last start at Dundalk, finishing a close fifth on her first start as a 3yo back in April.
Damson, the dam of the winner, managed to win her first four starts which included the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh back in 2004.
Winning trainer David Wachman said afterwards: "She tries hard and loves that ground. The trip was perfect for her and she will be campaigned in summer handicaps now."
