College Scholar scores for McAteer
Ben Curtis recorded his nineteenth winner of the season when winning the Michael Higgins & Co Handicap aboard College Scholar
Curtis made his progress to join the leaders from over a furlong out and the pair kept on strongly to lead close home and deny Eurosmart Lady by half a length.
Winning trainer Liam McAteer said afterwards: “I’m delighted for the owner Tom Furlong, he has had horses with me for fifteen years and this is his first winner.”
“This horse has had his problems in the past but seems to be back to himself.”
“He has been unlucky in some of his races, he got a brilliant ride from Ben [Curtis], I told him not to panic and everything worked out well.”
“We’ll go for the seven furlong race at Galway now, he should get in.”
