The extended two and a half mile Athleague Hurdle in Roscommon turned into a bit of a sprint from the second last and it was Clara Mc Cloud who prevailed.
Only four went to post and it was Klepht who took them along tracked by Seefood with Waaheb in third and Clara Mc Cloud settled in a close-up fourth.
Clara Mc Cloud travelled well into a narrow lead at the second last and a good jump at the last sealed the victory. She was driven out by Davy Condon to score at 5/2. There was a length and three parts back to Waaheb (2/1 joint favourite). Seefood, the other 2/1 joint favourite, kept on at the same pace for third.
Gordon Elliott said: “She’ll go chasing and she’s very honest. I’d say she’ll go on any ground once it’s not bottomless winter ground.”
There was a stewards enquiry after the winner veered right upon landing after the last. Any interference caused to the runner-up was deemed to be accidental.
