Caso Do Lago proved game in the finish as he got home for a head victory in the nursery at Dundalk.
Niall McCullagh was prominent on the 10/1 shot throughout in the seven-furlong contest and took over from front-runner Aru Cha Cha (11/2f) at the furlong pole.
The Eddie Lynam-trained winner was strongly pressed by Beauty's Forte in the closing stages and was all out at the line to score by a head.
The winner is owned by Justin Carthy, formerly part-owner of Chronicle bookmakers who now works for Ladbrokes after they bought out the firm.
The Balmont colt was third in a Down Royal claimer last time.
“Justin has been with us a long time and nice to get this fella to win a race,” said Lynam.
“The family has been good to us. He's out of a half-sister to Duff and by Balmont, who we've had a bit of luck with.”
