Apprentice jockey Megan Carberry is living up to her 'lofty' racing name and partnered her first winner for new employer Tracey Collins on Pencil Hill 10/1, in the opening www.dundalkstadium.com Handicap at Dundalk this evening.
Riding her fifth career winner, the teenager, a cousin of jockeys Paul, Philip and Nina Carberry, produced the son of Acclamation from off to pace to eventually edge her head in front in the closing stages for a head and a short head win over Inishmot Duchess and Copper Dock
Afterwards Collins stated “I'm delighted with Pencil Hill and Megan gave him a lovely ride. The race suited him as it was a small field. That's Megan's first winner for me since she signed on with me (as an apprentice) last year.”
