See Double You benefited from a fine patient ride from Paul Carberry to win the Book Online At naasracecourse.com Handicap Chase at Naas today, recording a first winner for rookie trainer Ronan McNally.
McNally himself was on board the gelding when the pair finished second at Thurles on Friday and with Carberry now in the plate riding at 10st1lbs, arrived from well off the pace before producing him to lead at the second last fence. See Double You eventually registered a six and a half lengths win over In Great Form
Co Armagh based McNally later reported “when he ran at Thurles on Friday, he got a nose bleed traveling down and I'm not sure if he got a knock in the trailer but did receive the all clear to run.
“I probably took a chance by running him today but he didn't take a blow after the Thurles race and because of that we decided to come here. Also, when are you going to get Paul Carberry up with just ten stone!
“We'll give him a break now and it's great for the lads (Red Neds Racing Club).”
He added “I've only had my first runners as a trainer in the last two weeks and have had two seconds and a winner from four runners which isn't too bad!”
