At the 14th time of asking Scorpion Black shed his maiden tag in the BetVictor Guaranteed Run For Your Money Handicap (division one) at Gowran.
Chris Hayes did the steering on the 7/1 shot for Dermot Weld and he got the Moyglare Stud Farm-bred home by two and a half lengths from Kodianne
Scorpion Black is now owned by Dominick Glennane, Seamus O’Brien and Bridget Dillon.
“He’s been consistent and ran a bit keen with the visor last time in Listowel. A refreshed Chris Hayes gave him a lovely ride. He battled well and went to the line well," said Weld.
“He deserved to win a race, and we’ll look for something similar in future.”
