Boy pleases locals in Galway Plate Trial

Fri 18th Jun 2010, 20:21

There was a very popular success in the www.thetote.com Galway Plate Trial when the Frank Kernan-owned Killenaule Boy triumphed under Patrick Mangan to keep up the fine run of trainer Edward O'Grady.

This 14/1 shot, a course winner last November, had a tremendous battle from before three out with the well-backed favourite, Fairwood Bob and it was only close home that Mangan's mount got on top to prevail by a neck.

Frank Kernan from the renowned Crossmaglen, County Armagh family was on hand to greet his winner as was his son, the famous show-jumper, James.

He remarked: "This fellow won here last November and he will probably have a tilt at the Galway Plate. We'll have to discuss it with Edward who is not here today."
