Best Of Bocelli made the breakthrough on his 22nd start when claiming the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Chase at Thurles.
The Anshan gelding has been a consistent sort without getting his head in front and gained his first success at the age of nine.
Michael Doran cut out the running on the 15/2 shot and he was left clear when nearest pursuer Venture Lazarus (9/2jf) crashed out three from home. Edmundo came through to chase him but could only get within three-lengths with the other joint-favourite Annacarton fourth.
It was also a welcome winner for trainer Myles Sunderland, his first since July 2011.
"He's been knocking on the door. The horse's dam Patience Of Angels is well named in relation to the owners!
"He was second to a good horse in a point-to-point and we thought we had a champion.
"He jumps for fun and we didn't go back over hurdles with him as he jumps so well and probably wouldn't have enough respect for them.
"Ground is the key to him and that's as tacky as he would like it."
