Blasket makes it third time lucky
The Tommy Stack team put the disappointment of High Award s eclipse in the opener behind them when Blasket Spirit (3s into 2s) in the colours of Mrs. Maureen Haughey, led over two furlongs under Wayne Lordan before going on to comfortably beat Echoes Of History by four lengths in the Cork Racecourse (C & G) Maiden.
There was a further three parts of a length back to the gambled-on third, Prince Jock (10s into 4s). He was doing his best work late on.
Fozzy Stack said of Blasket Spirit: "He is improving with each start but he is due a break now after having three quick races."
The start of this race was delayed by ten minutes as newcomer, Crystal Swing burst out of the stalls and ran loose for quite a while before being caught on the sprint course.
