Bellvano shows his quality
German-bred Bellvano sent over from Nicky Henderson’s yard in England battled back gamely after the last under Barry Geraghty to beat Montan and Ruby Walsh by a length and three parts in Punchestown’s two mile two furlong novice chase.
Henderson said of his 7/2 favourite: “He is still a novice for next season in England and has still a fair bit to learn. He went nicely to sleep today as he can be a bit keen.
“We will go quietly with him and not got for anything fancy yet. He is a top of the ground horse and Barry said ground that was as slow as he would need it.”
Montan at 9/2 travelled well but made a slight mistake at the last which allowed Bellvano to regain the initiative. Keki Buku completed the placings at 4/1.
