Becauseicouldntsee Cheltenham bound
Noel Glynn's colourfully named horses have been somewhat out-of-sorts in recent times but the Co Clare trainer was on the mark with Becauseicouldntsee in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase at Fairyhouse today.
Becauseicouldntsee made most, and when nearest pursuer Deal Done fell at the second last fence, the son of Beneficial was allowed coast to a distance win over the disappointing Corskeagh Royale
Afterwards a delighted Glynn reported “I thought Becauseicouldntsee was a proper horse once but I placed him very badly in his races thus far!”
He added “I was disappointed when he was beaten by an 11yo at Navan two runs back but he's a horse you have to make plenty of use of and did it very well today. He may go for either the four miler or Kim Muir Chase at Cheltenham now and is a better horse going left-handed.”
Glynn's horses have, for years, attracted attention by virtue of their unusual names and following Becauseicouldntsee's victory, Glynn reported “I name some of my horses from song and poem lyrics and Becauseicouldntsee, like two others, is named after a song written by Sean Keane.”
Keane's song “Writing On The Wall” contains the lyric “And the day that we wake up, they`ve gone beyond recall/ Because we couldn`t see the writing on the wall.”
