Amour lands significant Cork gamble
Curragh based trainer Bill Farrell’s Amour Fou landed a sizeable on-course gamble (33/1 – 12/1) to win the not-without-incident Mallow Town Summer BBQ Evening July 8th Handicap at Cork today. The Munster Maori appeared to be travelling quite well over a furlong out but his rider Johnny Killahena was clearly in difficulty with a slipped saddle. The gelding appeared to hold at least a placed chance but eventually unseated Killahena 100 yards from the finish, by which time Amour Fou, under Padraig Beggym had gone clear for her win.
Afterwards Farrell stated “Amour Fou is owned by my neighbour John Troy and improved over the winter. We’ll aim her at a 0-80 handicap at The Curragh on Sunday week if she gets into it.”
