Having won the first aboard Tropical Mist Danny Grant doubled on his second ride back from injury, as he took division two of the www.gowranpark.ie Handicap, aboard the Pat Flynn trained Knights Templar
Formerly trained by Ger Lyons and Ciaran O’Brien, the son of Trade Winds was sent off at 4/1 this evening, having run well on his last two starts to finish fifth and third.
He won over the course and distance in October of last year and he travelled best from a long way out.
Once Grant asked him to assert around a furlong out, he soon went on, scoring by a length and a quarter at the line. Truly Genius kept on well to take second at 12/1 under Sam James for Christy Donoghue while Badger Daly was a nose back in third under Ronan Whelan for John Hagan at 13/2.
The Tracey Collins trained Furacano (10/1) completed the placings four and a half lengths back in fourth under Pat Smullen while the gamble of the race, Pivotal Rock (9/2 into 10/3fav at the off), could only manage a disappointing fifth under Wayne Lordan for Tommy Stack.
Pat Flynn said afterwards: "The last day was a bit soft for him. He’s on a decent enough mark and hopefully he can win again.”
