Reports in which Split Ear (IRE) was mentioned
Mullins' land touch with Split
Split Ear landed a nice touch when produced with a well-timed run to claim the two-mile handicap hurdle at Ballinrobe. Tue 26th JunSplit shows them how in the West again
The western air and the minimum trip seem to be the key to Split Ear and he was on the mark again in Connacht when landing the Guinness Handicap Hurdle under Emmet Mullins. Sun 11th JulSplit Ear puts Mullins back on the trail
Tony Mullins made a welcome return to winner’s enclosure when Split Ear took the concluding Supermac’s Ballinrobe & Claremorris Handicap Hurdle under a fine ride by the trainers nephew Emmett Mullins. Mon 31st MayMullins/Connell take last at Cork
The final race of the day at Cork, The Rockview (Q.R) Flat Race was won by the Tony Mullins trained Split Ear, ridden and owned by Barry Connell who also sponsors the race. Sat 11th Apr
After race at Ballinrobe Tue, 26th Jun, 2012 (1st)
If the handicapper is too hard on him he'll probably go back for a beginners chase. We won't be waiting until next March for one anyway,. When he was chasing he was a bit slow to get the hang of things over fences but he jumps well. He probably wasn't himself last year.

After race at Sligo Sun, 11th Jul, 2010 (1st)
Anytime we've tried him beyond two miles we've met with defeat so the minimum trip seems to be the key to him. He'll go for the handicap hurdle on the Wednesday at Galway now.

That was a welcome relief. A contest of this sort was well within his grasp as he is a bumper winner. He is entered in a hurdle race in Tramore and he might run there under a mandatory penalty.

After race at Cork Sat, 11th Apr, 2009 (1st)
This was a good horse 2 years ago and then he got a leg but he's one of the rare one's that has made a comeback and if he stays sound he'll be a very decent horse. We might go for a winner's race with him next as long as the ground isn't firm.
