The Stewards enquired into two incidents of possible interference in the closing stages of this race. The first involving Benny In Milan, ridden by D.G. Hogan, placed second, Toor General, ridden by D.N. Russell, placed fourth and Lucky Phil, ridden by B.J. Cooper, placed third, where it appeared Toor General ran short of room and the second incident involving Bay Hill ridden by L.P. Gilligan placed first and Lucky Phil, ridden by B.J. Cooper, where it appeared Lucky Phil ran short of room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned

Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge's placings in relation to either incident. They were, however, of the opinion that D.G. Hogan was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly in relation to the first incident. Having taken his previous record in this regard into account, the Stewards suspended D.G. Hogan for 1 raceday.
