Good To Go (GB), trained by J R Jenkins, was late into the Parade Ring, due to Joey Haynes being delayed weighing out.

Grifter (GB) unseated Paul Hanagan in the chute and cantered loose for a short distance before being caught.

Having been checked by the Veterinary Surgeon and the Doctor at the start, both were deemed fit to race.

An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approaching 1½ furlongs out involving Monsieur Jumbo (FR), placed second, ridden by Jamie Spencer and Grifter (GB), placed third, ridden by Paul Hanagan.

It was established that Monsieur Jumbo (FR) had shifted right-handed into the path of Grifter (GB) intimidating Hanagan for several strides, and ultimately forced him to lose his rightful running between Good To Go (GB), unplaced, and Monsieur Jumbo (FR).

After hearing evidence from both riders and viewing recordings of the incident, the Stewards were satisfied that after considering the material extent of the interference, combined with the fact that Grifter (GB) had finished the race off strongly, coming from approximately 2 lengths down on Monsieur Jumbo (FR) at the ½ furlong marker, to only be beaten a rapidly diminishing short-head margin, that Monsieur Jumbo (FR) had improved its placing.

The placings were revised as follows: First – Miss Calculation (IRE); Second – Grifter (GB); Third – Monsieur Jumbo (FR) and Fourth – Sun Rising (IRE).

Spencer was cautioned for careless riding as he had failed to take sufficient steps to prevent his mount from edging right-handed when insufficiently clear of Grifter (GB).

Following the race, Jamie Spencer reported that Monsieur Jumbo (FR), placed third, was slowly away.
