Powerstation justifies favouritism
Davy Russell gained some compensation for being just touched off in the previous race when he won the McSweeney Arms Hotel Handicap Chase at Killarney aboard 3/1 favourite Powerstation
Russell who settled his mount in rear made his progress to join the leaders three out. Powerstation kept on well under a strong drive from Russell to lead on the run-in and deny Head Waiter by a head.
Winning trainer O'Connell said afterwards: "He got bumped at the first fence and he was shuffled back a bit but Davy [Russell] was always happy and knew he'd loads of horse underneath him."
"He'll have a little break now and come back for the Galway Plate."
