Nicely-backed What Style made an eyecatching debut in the seven furlong juvenile fillies’ maiden at Leopardstown for John Oxx and Niall McCullagh.

The daughter of Teofilo, who was backed in from 7/1 to 5/1 in the ring, came with a good sustained run coming off the home bend and dug deep under Niall McCullagh to beat Snow Queen on her inside by half a length with Bracing Breeze on her outside a head further back in third.

Snow Queen went off the uneasy 13/8 favourite for Aidan and Joseph O’Brien, having opened at 11/8. This was her third outing, after two fifth places also at Leopardstown, one in a Group 3.

Dermot Weld’s unraced Bracing Breeze was also the subject of market support from 9/2 to 10/3 at the track. She ran a decent race under Pat Smullen in what could prove to be an above average maiden.

“She’s a nice filly and won well. She was looking around a bit, but when she got company she went on again,” John Oxx said.

“We’ll look for a Stakes race for her now. She’ll be better on better ground and will come on a bit for the run.”

The first three, who dominated the betting, were clear of fourth placed Made In Design who was beaten two and a half lengths by third placed Bracing Breeze.
