Michael O'Leary completed a double at Limerick today as the Gigginstown House Stud 'supremo' was on the mark with Assemble in the Eden Capital Maiden Hurdle, which formed the middle leg of an across-the-card treble for the owner.
O'Leary's Gordon Elliott trained Easywork had won Limerick's 12.55pm race before Assemble, for trainer Joseph O'Brien and jockey Oakley Brown, doubled his Munster score in the 1.30pm race.
Fifteen minutes later, the Noel Meade trained Faughernon completed the owner's treble at Leopardstown.
Assemble justified 13/8 favoruitism in his two lengths win over Egality Mans and following the race Joseph O'Brien's assistant Brendan Powell said “it was a nice performance and he is a nice horse.
“I told Oakley to keep sitting for as long as you can because they don't find a lot on this ground and that ground is bottomless.
“He was just doing enough in front and in time he could make up into a lovely three mile chaser.
“Three or four months ago, he (Oakley Brown) hadn't jumped a hurdle and he is doing it well and is seeing a stride. He is a nice lad, rides well and has a good head on him.”
