Notebook (9/4) got off the mark for Henry de Bromhead in the two mile maiden hurdle at Tramore on New Year's Day.
The six-year-old gelding tracked All The Way West until he loomed upsides that rival with three furlongs to race.
Rachael Blackmore sent him on approaching the second last as 13/8 favourite Janidil emerged in behind as the danger.
Notebook was ridden coming to the last and a good jump there sealed the deal as Janidil was a never nearer second, beaten by a length and a quarter. Roney was 14 lengths adrift in third at 7/1.
Henry de Bromhead said: "It's nice to get a winner here today. I'm delighted with him, he jumped really well. Rachael was great on him and he stayed at it really well.
"I was a bit disappointed the day he got beaten (at Clonmel). Salty Boy didn't have much form going into that but he is rated 134 now. That made it look a bit nicer.
"I'd say we will aim him for a rated novice hurdle now. He is a chaser in the making. He is a very balanced horse for a big lad."
