The Tony Martin trained Magnium landed a gamble in the Killarney Towers Maiden Hurdle.
Available at 16/1 in early shows, the son of Westerner opened on-course at just 8s before going off a 5/1 chance in the colours of owner Patrick Rabbitt.
Seventh of twenty-one behind I Am Sailing on his debut in March, the bay gelding was settled behind the leaders on inner today.
He was third entering the straight, and was ridden in second after three out. He swept to the front after the next, and kept on well under pressure from there, going on to score by two lengths under Robbie Power.
The 5/6 favourite Edelpour finished second under Denis O'Regan for Alan Fleming, while Paris Texas (16/1) kept on well to take third, another six lengths back under Mark Walsh for Joseph O'Brien.
Martin said afterwards: "He ran a lovely race in Navan on his debut under Donagh (Meyler) and it is unfortunate on him as he had done all the work on him and turned him into the horse he is but had other commitments today and couldn't ride him.
"That'll be the end of him for the season he'll go chasing next season. He looks a big model of a chaser down the line and it was grand to get that into him today before the ground went really quick.
"It was grand for his owner Pat Rabbitt from Athenry and he is a proper big horse and we were lucky to just get away with the ground."
