Lettermacaward made a successful switch back to the smaller obstacles when claiming the Nire Valley Handicap Hurdle at Clonmel.
Mick Winters charge opened his account over fences at Ballinrobe on his last outing in August and proved his adaptability by landing the three-mile hurdle today.
Jonathan Burke held his mount up in the early stages before taking closer order four from home.
The well-backed 13/8 favourite (9/4 this morning) hit the front before the second last and was always holding Arthropod at bay to record a length-and-a-half success.
"The horses have been running well and this was a good option to come here," said Winters.
"He'll have another run over hurdles before going back over fences but won't be running on winter heavy ground."
