Jerandme put in a stout staying performance to land the Ulster Cesarewitch under Colin Keane.

The six-year-old gelding was always in the front rank and once he picked up the lead again, with a furlong and a half to go, his stamina kicked in.

The 18/5 shot kept on to post a victory by a length and three quarters in this extended two miles one test.

Walking On Glass was all the rage from 18/5 down to 5/2 favourite but he had to settle for second. First reserve Lusis Naturea (7/1) completed the placings a further four and a half lengths away.

This gave Keane a double on the card as he also scored on A Case Of You for John McConnell.

Trainer Noel Meade said: "It's been a good race for us, I think that's the fourth time I've won it.

"He's very genuine, what you see is what you get. He never lets us down no matter what we run him in.

"He does stay very well and maybe next year he might be a contender for that two and a half mile race at (Royal) Ascot.

"He likes good-ish ground, so we took a chance today that it would be alright. The trip today was a bit of a help.

"Colin Keane is without doubt one of the nicest young lads to have ever come into racing not just as a jockey but as a man. He said to me afterwards that he had a look at the last day I rode him, last night, and said 'I should have held onto him a bit longer' and today he was able to sit and that just made the difference - he was able to pick up. It just shows you how good he is.

"You'd have to think about that (the Irish Cesarewitch) as well, it would be the next step."
