All roads lead to Ballybrit later this month and Andy Lynch has the big summer Festival very much in mind for Jarob after the seven-year-old gelding opened his account under rules in the Indaver Maiden Hurdle at Bellewstown.
Lightly-raced since winning a point-to-point at Ballinaboola as a four-year-old, Robbie Colgan’s mount threw away a winning opportunity when blundering two out over fences at Down Royal last month and he also gave the penultimate obstacle a fair clout here.
However the three-mile stamina test suited the son of Beat All down to the ground, and the 12/1 chance kept on gamely on the run-in to beat Rough Justice by three lengths.
Long-time leader Wandering Aengus was just over two lengths further back in third, with favourite Morney Wing in fourth.
Lynch said, “He loves that ground and can’t go on yielding. He’s a born chaser but I thought we might take a little hurdle on the way!
“We’ll look at the beginners chase at Galway now. He wants a trip.”
