A set of cheek-pieces certainly did Harpist no harm in the James P. Cunningham Electrical Handicap at Galway, the daughter of Danehill Dancer putting up a good performance in the seven furlong event.
She's always popular in the market and again Harpist had her supporters (100/30 into 3/1) who'd likely have been on good terms with themselves when Wayne Lordan sent her to the front entering the straight.
Considering her nine stone twelve impost, the victorious three-year-old, owned by Kate Wachman and trained by her husband David, kept up the gallop in determined fashion to score by two and a half lengths and a nose from Tough Lady and Sword Of Light (both finished off their races well).
"She did it well. I sat second and she quickened up nicely. I'm not sure where she'll go now.
"She missed the break at Roscommon last time and could never get into it after. She jumped better today which helped," reported Lordan afterwards. (DM & EM)
