Foley/Flannery flying

Trainer Tom Foley and jockey David Flannery combined to record at double at Gowran today, winning both the chases on the seven race card.

The pair, fresh from a winner with Dariak on Wednesday at Tralee, landed the Gowran Park Racing Club 2009 Handicap Chase with Monty Mint before Dancing Hero won an incident packed Stoneyford Beginners Chase.

Following Monty Mint's win, Foley stated "Monty Mint is a real staying chaser but doesn't like tacky ground. I've no plans for him next but I hope the handicapper wont crucify him!"

He added "Monty Mint once looked a really good prospect but suffered an injury when winning his bumper in February 2004. We had to insert three screws into his off hind leg following the run and later they needed to be removed."

Half an hour later 24 year old Flannery, from Tipperary town and recording his first double, successfully steered Dancing Hero to a somehwat fortunate half length win in the beginners' chase.

Unlucky loser in the race was The Gloves Are Off who fell at the final fence when in front, while six of the fallers/u.r.s in the race included favourite Casey Jones and Bargerlaw.

Foley subsequently mentioned "Dancing Hero was operated for his wind three runs back and is a nice horse. We'll look for a winners' race now."
