Willie McCreery's Ohh Lala (5/2f) stepped up on the promise shown in her first two runs when collaring Spirit Of Wedza close home in the extended six furlong juvenile maiden in Sligo.

Spirit Of Wedza was obviously keen to get on with things as he broke through the stalls before they opened. However, when the race did get under way he jumped out smartly from gate one to grab an early advantage.

Turning into the home straight the 7/2 chance still held a decisive lead, but he was worn down inside the final 100 yards by Ohh Lala and Leigh Roche who won going away by two and a quarter lengths.

Dermot Weld’s Sir Raston on debut, ran on well for third at 7/2.

Leigh Roche said: “She had a nice run in Fairyhouse the last day although she was still a bit green there and changed her legs. She was coming here with two runs under her belt and did it well though she was still a bit green. She’s improving the whole time.”

Ohh Lala was sixth to War Envoy (ninth in the Group 2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot today) on debut at Naas before finishing a close-up third to Stella Street and Jack Naylor in Fairyhouse.
