Jim Bolger went back to back in the Listed Lenebane Stakes at Roscommon with Einsteins Folly following up Bunairgead's win here in 2013. Kevin Manning did the steering on the Coolcullen winner this year.
The Whippper colt's three previous wins were achieved with 'give' in the ground, but the four-year-old is obviously an adaptable type and he showed real grit to emerge victorious here.
Manning got a nice run towards the inner from early in the straight and he had a very willing partner in the final furlong as the 8/1 shot found plenty to beat Belisarius by a length and a half.
Front-running second favourite Ebeyina couldn't raise her game when required as she attempted to supply Pat Smullen with a treble. She finished a neck off Belisarius in second.
As well as Ebeyina, the Aga Khan also had the market-leading Dabadiyan (11/4 into 9/4) in here but he could fare no better than fifth.
Manning remarked: "He handled the ground and quickened up well."
Meanwhile Ger Flynn, Bolger's travelling head lad, stated: "Kevin was very happy with him. He handled the ground well.
"People had the assumption that he was a soft ground horse because he had been running early on in the year on soft ground. His last three runs have been on good to firm though.
"He has won a Listed race now, he was third and fourth in another couple so he's a versatile horse.
"He handled the ground really well today and the trip (up to a mile and a half for the first time).
"I'm sure the boss will find something for him now, possibly another Listed race.
"He is a horse on the up, he is rated 100 and he will probably go up a little bit more for that so handicaps are probably out of his reach now." (DM & EM)
