The Colin Bowe trained Amaulino took the Kedrah House Stud 'Well Chosen' Beginners Chase on his debut over the larger obstacles.

Twice successful over flights in his native France, the son of Saint Des Saints finished a good second to Coquin Mans at Wexford last June, but had been ultimately disappointing since.

Fifth of fourteen to Seskinane at Ballinrobe last month, the five-year-old gelding was sent off at 14/1 this evening with Ricky Doyle in the saddle.

Settled behind the leaders, he improved to challenge on the outer approaching the straight, and soon lead, keeping on well under pressure from before the last to beat Kaiser Black by a length and a half.

The runner-up was returned the 11/4 favourite under Rob James for Pat Doyle, while Stoneford (12/1) was twelve lengths back in third for Sean Flanagan for Noel Meade.

STEWARDS REPORTS

Owing to the low lying sun, the Stewards granted permission for fences 3 and 4 to be omitted from this race

The Stewards interviewed Mr. R. James, rider of Kaiser Black, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found Mr.R. James to be in breach of Regulation 10.3(g) in that he used his whip with his arm above shoulder height. Having considered his record in this regard, the stewards cautioned Mr. R. James with regard to his future responsibilities.
