Reports in which Verdant Place (IRE) was mentioned
Western Walk has really turned a corner since joining Jonathan Sweeney this season and made it two wins from as many starts for the Cork trainer when taking the €50,000 INH Stallion Owners EBF Novice Handicap Hurdle Series Final in great style at Fairyhouse.

J.P. McManus' Verdant Place defied a 6lb rise for a January win to score successive Punchestown victories today, landing the David Trundley Artist Handicap Hurdle for trainer Pat Foley.
Sun 19th Feb
Patrick Foley bagged a second notable success in three days today, training his first J.P. McManus-owned winner with well supported Verdant Place (13/8f) in Punchestown's Festival Hospitality Novice Handicap Hurdle.
Mon 16th Jan
Penny Jar is a very in-form horse and an 8lb rise in the weights didn't prevent him from bringing up his hat-trick in the concluding handicap hurdle at Punchestown.

the ground was a bit worse than I thought coming here and they are saying it's dead. He got through it but I still think he might be a better horse on nicer ground. We're delighted to get another win out of him and to go back-to-back. We'll see what the handicapper does now. I think that's his trip (2m7f) although maybe on nice ground you could drop him back a little bit. We'll keep him to 2m6f or three miles.

it's great to get that - I was a bit worried about the ground, as it was yielding to soft the last day he ran here. Simon said he'll stay further, he ran over 2m6f the last day but 2m4f is okay for him. He's a big baby, he's still green and is only learning. It'll take a little bit of time for the penny to drop fully with him. I wouldn't mind maybe coming back here for the 0-123 hurdle at the festival as I think that would be his time of the year but we'll see what they say. He'll be a chaser down the road - he's an out-and-out chaser. We'll see what Frank (Berry, McManus' racing manager) says and see what we do with him from here.
