that was badly needed for both myself and the horse! Things have gone a bit slow for me at the moment and rides are tightening up a bit. It's great to ride a big winner for Gavin as I ride plenty for him and Fran Flood and also am based with Noel Meade. The race wasn't run over-quick and it suited him as he wants soft ground and ran a great race at Gowran a month ago. He made a bad mistake at the fifth last fence but travelled great and is game and stays.

He was given a good ride again today. We left him alone and rode him more patiently today. I don't know whether we would have won it but we won't give it back!. The Becher Chase at Aintree is his next target. A bit more time would be nice but I think he will jump around those Aintree fences. Even though he is a handy horse, he is a fabulous jumper.

That's my first time winning the race and it was my birthday during the week. We were hoping there would be a good three mile chase in him as he stays so well. He's small, but he's a good lepper and a natural jumper. He got beaten in the Midlands National at Kilbeggan under a big weight and 10 stone 4 suited him better. He ran ordinary in Galway on heavy ground. He couldn't go on it. He wouldn't have wanted the ground any worse. The Troytown is a possibility.

He's bred to be a chaser. He's from the family of Nupsala. He's not a big horse, but he's courageous and he took all the fences on. He won over three miles over hurdles so three miles over fences is no problem to him. We might put him in a handicap to see what mark he gives him. He's going the right way and has taken to fences which is the main thing.

He's an out-and-out stayer. The race turned into a bit of a sprint and I thought the pace might catch him out but he did well to win after getting in tight at the last,. He'll go for the three-mile novice handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse on Easter Sunday.

that was a good and tough performance from Raz De Maree. He jumped very poorly at Thurles the last day but likes a galloping track. He's a small horse but will make a chaser in time as he is from a family of chasers.
