I had thought about running her at Punchestown where there was a suitable conditions race in February but I wasn't quite happy with the way she was moving around that time and I gave her a few easy days. I had my vets in and they were happy enough with her but because we were ahead of schedule with her I decided to give her a few days off which is never a bad thing for a filly.

She did what Ruby (Walsh, the winning rider) asked her and when push came to shove she still had plenty left in the tank. She pinged the last, not like here last year, and as we would never have minded taking on the best over two miles with her, we knew she wouldn't be found wanting for a change of gear. She won three on the flat before she ever came to me. She's a real good mare and she showed that today. It was a fantastic performance and a great ride by Ruby too. She came in season last week but she came out of it quick enough. She's just got tremendous ability. As regards next year I have no problem taking on Big Buck's if he gets an entry in the mares hurdle!

Quevega is in good form. She is bred to want a trip and showed she stays in this race last year but it is amazing that she also has so much speed. We would only have gone for the Rabobank Champion Hurdle with her if Hurricane Fly had a setback. Mourad is improving with every run this year. Katie takes over from Paul Townend. It looks as if Paul's collarbone injury is more serious than we first thought, and he could be out for six weeks. Hopefully he has built up enough of a lead to win the jockey's championship. Mikael D'Haguenet is going back over hurdles for a confidence booster. It may be that he enjoys hurdles more than fences, and this could help to make up our mind which way we go with him next season,.

Paul [Townend] said she was moving easily all the way and he had no problems with her. Her dam won over long distances and her win at Cheltenham (over 2m4f) told us she had the stamina to win over three miles. I think she has the class to go back over two miles and she showed that last year. She might have an entry for the mares hurdle, stayers hurdle and maybe even the champion hurdle at Cheltenham next year. I wouldn't mind doing what we did last year and go straight to Cheltenham or just give her one run. The injury she had last year is still at the back of my mind. I don't know if we'll go to France or not yet but the prize money over there is fantastic.

He'll have another run or two over hurdles but he is the build of a chaser in the making. He may go over a longer trip and Ruby suggested that he'd prefer going left-handed even though he has now won twice going right. (EM)

I didn't think she was particularly right today and I expect plenty of improvement. She'll go for the David Nicholson Mares Hurdle at Cheltenham. I took a bit of a chance running her today so close to Cheltenham, but she didn't seem to get too hard a race.
