Darragh gave him a good spin. They went very hard up front, and he stuck at it well. He’s pushing on in years but if anything he’s improving. He missed a year with injury and it’s good to get him back like that. I’ve had great success with these lads (Lostwelton Syndicate, from Monivea). It’s my 13th winner for them between two horses - this lad and Youcantcallherthat. They are a proper sporting syndicate who really enjoy it. We’ll see what the handicapper does. He might get an entry in the Galway Blazers but he’d need a penalty to get in. He has loads of options and can go back hurdling too.

Brian was very good on him and did exactly as I asked him. He's a tough horse. He missed a year with injury but has come back as good as ever and was on a reasonable mark.

He's as tough as nails. He was there a bit soon but had to be as he lacks a gear. He made hard work of it and idled in front. Good jumps over the last three sealed it. The bit was behind the bridle the whole way but there is always a bit there when you go for him. He'll probably go chasing now. He was going quite well in a chase before when he fell. I'm delighted. All the horses are running really well.

I was on holidays and am out of breath after that. He's a dour stayer and won a maiden at Ballinrobe last year. He fell in a chase in the north the last day when going okay. He'll go back chasing and is a nice horse for the summer. He needed every yard of it and doesn't make it easy for you. On the first circuit I was niggling away, and they came back to him. He saves a bit for himself but those ones are better as they are conserving a bit of energy. The owners, Lostwelton Syndicate, are an enthusiastic bunch of lads from Monivea in Galway.

He's all heart and I absolutely love him. He never travels and you're always on the end of the buckle, but he always responds and he digs it out when you ask him. Those are the types that save so much. The Lostwelton Syndicate are from Monivea, Co Galway so he'll have to run at Galway.
