He is on his way to the Kerry National and we were trying to give him as easy a race as possible. He's only just won by a head but I'd suppose an inch is as good as a mile.

I don't know how he got through them fallers at the first. They seem to come down right in front of him. We got the luck there. He has very little mileage over fences. The Kerry National was the plan all along but the ground got heavy for him so we said we would come here instead. He doesn't like the ground too heavy. The Troytown Chase at Navan is a possibility now or the Hennessy in England, the handicapper is hardly going to be too easy on him. We spent a whole season with him trying to make him a Champion Hurdler where he was beaten in a lot of races.

That went more or less to script,. He'll probably go back over fences now and there is a winners' of one at the next Galway meeting. Then we'll see about the Kerry National. I know that will be a few quick runs but he does seem to handle the good ground well and we'll try and make hay while we can.

Muirhead was a little disappointing at Cork on his latest start. He made a mistake four out that day and it seemed to knock him back as he is a light framed horse.

He jumped brilliant and that's what the whole thing is about. He got a bit tired and I'd suppose you'd have expected him to win easier. I didn't want to wind him up but at the same time I wanted to get him out before the heavy ground. I think what he wants is a real good gallop and a stamina test. I'd say three miles would be alright though not on heavy ground. He is not a big horse but he schooled well from the start. He'll go for a winners race now in a few weeks time.
