we weren't going to enter him but I said before we'd rather drop back to five than head up to a mile. Six or seven (furlongs) is probably ideal but we saw this race. We knew he'd have plenty of weight but once we knew we could get Sam to take off 5lb we said we'd go for it. He carries me around, and I'm thirteen-and-a-half stone - I know that's not in a race but carrying weight is no bother to him as he's a fine big horse. we had nothing to lose and thought it would tell us where we are going next year with him. I was surprised that Sister Lola went and caught him last week but they went plenty quick then and it suited her while it probably softened him up a bit for those coming late. He's been unbelievably consistent.

The more I see him racing the quicker he seems to be getting. Six is a good trip for him but I’d rather go down to five than be going up to a mile with him. He’s getting keener so he does too much over a mile.

To be honest drawn in stall 16 and dropping back to six furlongs it was touch and go whether to bother running. I couldn’t believe how easy he got across and his stamina was always going to last out. He caught us off guard (on debut) at the Curragh where he ran a huge race. The wheels then half came off as he’s a big weak horse. Luke said the way the race was run at Punchestown the last day didn’t suit and he’s a horse that needs momentum and be able to use his stride. He could have won his last three races. His three runs up here now are second, first and first so he’ll be busy here during the winter. He definitely stays a mile and he had no bother there over six so he has plenty of options.
