The handicapper can hardly be too hard on him at that age but we actually wouldn’t mind if he goes up a few pounds as we were hoping to run him in the Ascot Stakes, the two and a half miles handicap. He wouldn’t get into it off the mark he was on.

It's been a good race for us, I think that's the fourth time I've won it. He's very genuine, what you see is what you get. He never lets us down no matter what we run him in. He does stay very well and maybe next year he might be a contender for that two and a half mile race at (Royal) Ascot. He likes good-ish ground, so we took a chance today that it would be alright. The trip today was a bit of a help. Colin Keane is without doubt one of the nicest young lads to have ever come into racing not just as a jockey but as a man. He said to me afterwards that he had a look at the last day I rode him, last night, and said 'I should have held onto him a bit longer' and today he was able to sit and that just made the difference - he was able to pick up. It just shows you how good he is. You'd have to think about that (the Irish Cesarewitch) as well, it would be the next step.

He's a very nice horse and he never runs a bad race whether it's Flat, hurdles or chases,. Jeremy Harley felt that he might be better over fences than hurdles and he might be right. He had very little respect for hurdles. Since we've started schooling he's been very good and that one mistake he made today is the only mistake he's ever made. We brought him to Killarney but took him out because we thought the ground went too soft. He wants that nice ground. He'll continue on over fences and he does need a bit of a trip.

he ran a blinder here the last day and the step up in trip (to two miles) is the key to him. He likes that surface.

He was very green. He stays really well and I thought this better ground would suit him. He gallops well. He was very keen early too. I'd say when he learns how race a little bit better he's useful. He likes good ground. He's done most of his work on soft ground but I thought he might be a little bit better on good ground and I'd say he probably is. I'd imagine we might try a winners' bumper with him.
