Fiveforthree set himself up for a trip to the Cheltenham Festival when making a sparkling return to action in the Festival Free Upgrade Offer Ends Today Hurdle at PunchestownWed 16th Feb
Ruby Walsh didn't hide his regard for Call The Police in the run-up to the MCR Hurdle during RTE's coverage and the lightly-raced eight-year-old of course performed with a degree of credit to finish runner-up to his Willie Mullins trained stable companion Final Approach there. Well on outing number two for Closutton this afternoon Call The Police justified strong-backing (11/10 this morning into 8/11) under Paul Townend in the Follow Us On Facebook Hurdle at Punchestown.

Thu 30th Apr
On previous performance, on pedigree (a half-brother to Celestial Gold, Hennessy Gold Cup hero of 2004) and the market (7/4 into 5/4) suggested that Fiveforthree would have no problem stepping up to three miles for the first time and the grey fairly lived up to his billing when landing the Ladbrokes.com World Series Hurdle in great style, accounting for Pettifour by seven lengths.
Thu 30th Apr
The Ladbrokes.com World Series Hurdle is the highlight on day three of the Punchestown Festival, and Ruby Walsh believes big race favourite Fiveforthree has a good chance on breeding of staying the three miles.

I thought coming here today that two miles was a bit sharp for him but he is a spectacular jumper and jumped himself into the lead. David did the right thing by letting him go and he is improving all the time. I thought after his last run at Fairyhouse that we'd go up to three miles. Looking forward to next season and we've plenty of options now distance wise. The team have been in great form all season and the main reason is that they've stayed healthy for so long. We've hardly had a cough or any illness. We've a good team at home and Jackie is more involved this year in the running of the yard. We do a lot of tests on the horses. Everyone knows what they are doing and a lot of the staff have been with me a good few years.

He did a nice bit of work at Leopardstown a couple of weeks ago and that showed here today. He has don e everything right at home and the plan is to go for the 2 ¿ mile Aintree Hurdle on Grand National Day and then on to Punchestown.
