He was tough, it's great that he came back to himself as he was struggling to get his form back. He was running well but not getting anywhere and a lot of my horses were doing the same. That kind of makes up for the whole summer because I had very few horses to run. Between one thing and another it was quiet and to get this last big handicap, I can't believe it. He ground it out well. Niall gave him some ride because often times he can lose his races out of the gates. No matter what schooling you did it made no difference. On better ground he can't get it back but today the ground gave him a chance, when he came out the rest of them weren't gone on him. He's in all summer so we'll see what plans Frank has. I don't know where Dunvegan finished but I just didn't have him ready enough. Chris was delighted with him but he just gave a blow half way up when he needed him. He's a big giant of a horse and that will put him right for another day.

I'm delighted. I was looking at a full parade ring beforehand thinking to myself 'imagine being the best horse in this with all the big names' but I won it,. I thought early in the race he wasn't winging them all and he had to be tough. He needs a test at the finish of a race. He probably would have gone very close in Fairyhouse if he hadn't been stopped. I was afraid the ground would dry out as he ran here at Christmas last season on quick ground and never jumped a hurdle, he will not handle it. He's not big but he's really tough. It took him a while to win but he needed time to strengthen up. I arrived here not long before Simon won earlier and I said 'well that's probably me gone now because he'll never win the two of them'. He's some rider and it's great to see another potential champ coming along.

That was a great pot to win and he won his bumper here on similar ground (in 2018). I had a few horses beaten recently that ran well but thought I'm never going to get a bit of luck!. The non-runners were a big help, and it was his first run back, but funny enough he can run well first-time. The jockey was claiming 5lbs from a low weight and, to ride a winner in the race before it, he is on fire so it is unbelievable. That was his first ride for me and I'm delighted with him, the horse, the owner and Aoibhinn (Walsh) for bringing him down. I'm delighted racing is still on and giving people a chance to make a living. I'll look for something similar with the horse and, depending on what the owners say, he might go up in trip if the ground isn't as soft next time.

We were initially aiming to go point-to-pointing with him but he showed a little more than your normal point to pointer so we decided to run him in the Listed bumper at Limerick on his first run. He ran very well and we were delighted with him. He got a lovely ride and a nice education. We put him away straight away and left him out for the summer. I wasn't aiming for this but he started to work so well and was so fit. We brought him to the Curragh and Danny Mullins rode him and said 'Pat you have him 100 percent' and he said he'd run a big race. It easy to talk them up, but it takes a good horse to win the day you want to him to win. If he's not sold, he'll go to Navan for a Listed bumper. He jumps hurdles well but you'd want to see him over a fence!
