This lad is a legend and is the reason why we don't keep many horses in training after three because he keeps everybody buzzing at home and he's just a dude,. He ran a flat race last time and we honestly don't know why but we put it down to a bad day and he seems to have saved himself for this race! If anyone is allowed a bad day, it's him. There is another example of how well Colin is riding as he had the brains to take his time within two strides when he was in his comfort zone and left the leaders go off and do their own thing. He went on his holidays this time last year and the plan will again be to not over-race him. His owners David (Spratt) and Sean (Jones) deserve great credit as they are great supports of the yard and went to the sales to buy him back into the yard for fun and they have been repaid big time.

We had Tennessee Heights and Elusive Heights earmarked for this all along and when the rain was coming we decided we'd go with Brendan,. Colin had the choice and with good ground we'd always go with the other horse. I said 'just don't rock the boat and we'll stay with it.'. We had every intention, if the rain came, that Elusive Heights wouldn't run. When we walked the track we said it's not that bad and we'd take our chance with him. It's worked out. You don't like beating yourself but it's a high class problem and I'm delighted for the team. He's been a great old servant for the yard and for Gary Carroll. He owes us all nothing. It'll be more making it up as we go along with him and end up down in Cork for a Listed race. When we step him up to Group 2 we are in trouble so we'll stay listed and Group 3. In a yard like ours we need that and we're lucky to have the horses in the yard so we can have runners in races like this. If the big ones don't turn up we'll pick up the pieces. The other horse ran a blinder and he will get further, which is good. He's a stakes horse and it was a great first run back so it's all positive. We'll have a look at ten furlongs with him. Mrs Patino (owner of Elusive Heights) bred the winner and won with him initially so she'll be delighted.

To be honest we fancied Sea Wolf more but you can't beat class. He's been an absolute legend for the yard, and hopefully he can win another Stakes race this year. I'm delighted for Gary as well as he's a big part of the team. He got a lovely split on the inner and he just took off. I have 90 boxes and they are all full. Whether or not they will be full in June is another matter as I'm more about quality than quantity. I have been in awe of Gordon Elliott and what he's been doing all winter, and the one thing I have learned from him is to run them.

That's super and he deserved that. He's an absolute grinder and if they're dead on their feet in the last 100 yards there's no horses will pass him. He was unlucky the last day (Cambridgeshire, unseated rider leaving stalls) as he could have qualified for the next race (Balmoral Handicap) at Ascot, if he finished in the first six then. There were no qualifiers over here (Ireland) for him.

that was very important as I asked Sheikh Fahad to (Qatar Racing Limited) buy him back and I'd like to thank him for doing so. There is a train of thought that he is better going right-handed, with a tiny bit of juice but not on firm, firm. If he had that juice, I think he'd have held on in the Ballycorus Stakes. He'll go pot hunting for the new crew (Qatar Racing) and will go for the Desmond Stakes at Leopardstown next week. He has some really fancy entries and his new owners are gonna have some fun with him and he's a rock solid Group 3 horse but needs all the luck in the world when stepped up.

He grinds them out and stays on well. Thanks to Brendan (Brackan) he got me a new car after the Galway win. He's responsible for my two biggest wins. I rode over 100 pony winners. I was either going to go to England or go to Ger (Lyons). I haven't looked back since going to him. Colin came to me in January. He's a great lad and is really hard-working. We trained Brendan for the festival race [at Galway]. Going up to that sort of rating without winning a stakes races was unbelievable. I'd say we'll put him away and go to Dubai.

That was beautiful and a plan that came together. He's a listed/group horse running in a handicap and we were very confident. I'm delighted for Mrs Patino (Anamoine owner) and Patrick Cooper her racing manager. They've been very very loyal to the stable for the last fifteen or twenty years. This was the plan for the summer but Dubai is the main plan. He's a horse we always liked and he won like a Group 3 horse there. Colin is a lovely lovely fella. We told him to put his head down and not to look around when he hit the front. He rode the race to a tee and the horse loved the yielding ground.

He's a typical Big Bad Bob. He's like everything they (Anamoine Limited) ever sent us. He's mentally immature and he'll be a better four-year-old. We ran him over a mile and two at Dundalk and it's the only trip at Dundalk that I worry about the draw. When you're drawn high you're in trouble. You have to take your time and he just couldn't get into the race but he ran a cracker (6th). I said to Mrs Patino's racing manager, Patrick Cooper, that I was a bit sorry we left the Cambridgeshire behind but we couldn't go there because of the heavy ground.
