He ran a lovely race in Tramore and the race didn’t really go to suit him — he got left in front and it was not ideal. But today they went a nicer gallop and he (Eoin Walsh) was able to get him relaxed. I was even wondering was he too far back, but he went wide and jumped his way into it. He can hit a flat spot, but the ground is probably a bit slow. He’s a handy bit of a horse and is after winning two and it’s great. We’ll see what the handicapper does. He likes the hills, I wonder would he handle Cheltenham!. I’ve popped him over a fence and he pops a fence, so we’ll see. I’ll probably put him into a better race now off a lighter weight.

He ran well here before and we had a good seven-pound claimer aboard so it's not much of a surprise. He ran a bit fresh at Tipperary on his first run back and he needed that run. He has been more relaxed at home since and has been in a better frame of mind. I was hopeful that we might get a bit of place money as it read a good race on paper. Eoin (Walsh) got him nice and relaxed and got him into a lovely rhythm. He obviously came on for the Tipperary run and he won nicely. The plan was to see how today went and sure there might be another one of these in him. Hopefully we can get that man on board again. I'm delighted for his owner Basil Whelan. He is an elderly man and I'd say it's his first winner in his own colours.

First winner at Downpatrick to be honest. This horse just took a bit of time to come to himself. He wasn't a great eater and he was a bit weak in himself. Even though he schooled well at home, he fell first-time out. His mind just wasn't in the right place. It took us a few runs and Denis (O'Regan) did a great job educating him. He ran a nice race in Listowel last week But missed the third last and lost his place. He finished off his race and I felt he came on from it. He was fourth in a bumper here and I had to try and get him into the money and get a win with him. It worked out well. It wasn't a great race but it is nice to see him coming forward. I had him in good nick and Denis gave him a lovely ride, it's great to get a winner.
