I didn't realise my other horse (Maysonette) had finished second until the commentator called him and my son Andrew and Ben (Coen, rider of Maysonette) are cousins, so it was a real family success,. I thought he'd (An Saighdiur) win as he has come down the weights in recent times and it's great he has won again.

he was handicapped on fast ground, and scoped badly last week at Dundalk. He has bad feet and I was a bit concerned as he was shod during the week, and usually needs at least a week before we can run him. But the rain came and I decided to take a chance. He'll go for the Ayr Gold Cup, or the Silver Cup, which ever race he gets into.

The ground was as good as he wants it. He'd been running on quick ground all along. He ran really well in the Rockingham and he got a horrible draw in the Paddy Power. He wants it soft but funnily enough he loves Dundalk. He is in again on Sunday (the Phoenix Sprint Stakes) but he is a doubtful starter unless we get plenty of rain. The Ayr Silver Cup is his aim. He idled in front in it last year and was only beaten a length. If he gets into the Ayr Gold Cup he'll run in that as you'd win one as easy as the other!

I wanted to run in a premier handicap at Dundalk on Sunday week, but the lads wouldn't let me go there as Tipperary are playing Kilkenny in an All-Ireland hurling semi-final then!. His next run could be in the Ayr Gold Cup or Silver Cup, whichever we get in to. We'll enter him anyway. He's probably a better horse when he's a bit fresher.

The owners asked me six months ago if he could run on Derby Day. They had a table booked today for one of their son's birthdays. He was 5Ibs out of the handicap but he had to run. I thought the ground was too soft for him but I would have fancied him on good ground. I always thought he'd go on grass . I never thought that would be a problem.

An Saighduir keeps doing it! His action is better this year and he is getting back to his two year old form - hopefully he can translate this form back to the turf although the handicapper is pushing him up.

He's improving and that was a tight handicap tonight, anyone could have won it. He is inclined to pull up when he hits the front but he is enjoying his racing and moving better this year. He needed a mile on the turf before but we might give him a try over six furlongs on the grass now too. He is in good health and we'll keep tipping away with him.

I'd suppose he was well-in at the weights. He stays a mile and a quarter on grass but he gets keen when he comes here for some reason. He jumps hurdles well and I think he'll stay the two miles. I'd like to run him over a mile and a quarter here and drop him in.

He went wrong in the summer and has done nothing all year. I thought he would win today though. Declan (McDonogh) says he will get seven furlongs. He'll go on any ground but we'll campaign him at Dundalk until December.
