After race at Downpatrick Fri, 13th Oct, 2017 (1st)  He loved it there. The ground was too heavy in Gowran for him and he missed the third last which you can't do that there,. In heavy ground he just didn't get back into it but he still ran a good race. It was a higher-rated race and they were 7lbs higher horses. He loves to be in charge and that boy gave him a super ride. He did everything he was told. I was confident. He likes it here and if you like it here you have a chance of going in again. If we get another race like that he could go for it but he could certainly jump a fence as well, he's a big horse. We wouldn't bother with very deep ground anymore. We let him off last winter and he went to Dundalk but he wasn't mad about Dundalk. Desmond McDonogh

After race at Downpatrick Mon, 28th Aug, 2017 (1st)  this is one of my favourite tracks from the very beginning when I was leading trainer here for two or three years in the 1970s. I also rode my first winner here, I won't say when but it was 1969 and I beat Richard Dunwoody's father in a hurdle, imagine! The horse duly knew more than I did and pulled up after the winning post and I fell off over his head!. he (Alterno) deserved that and has been running consistently despite the old trait of swishing his tail, but he didn't swish today. He travelled beautifully and Davy (Russell) said he handled it like a Ferrari! . He gave him a great ride and it's brilliant as he has been knocking on the door. I'd say he'll jump a fence as he's a great jumper. Desmond McDonogh

After race at Wexford Thu, 17th Mar, 2016 (1st)  He just ran a bit green over the last couple when he faced the crowd. He probably needed something to bring him a bit further. I think that is the sires first hurdle win,” . He is a grand horse, it was his first time racing and he will come on leaps and bounds for that. Desmond McDonogh
