Following on from Yulong Gold Fairy in the Listed race yesterday, Dermot Weld registered his second win of Galway 2018 when Zuenoon justified good market support (2/1 into 13/8) in the James's Gate Irish EBF Median Auction Maiden.
Declan McDonogh soon had the successful grey in a good position, and sent on in the straight he was always going to hold the late flourish of Cosmic Horizon
Owned by Irish rugby boss Joe Schmidt, Cosmic Horizon finished half a length off for Joseph O'Brien, whilst his father Aidan's Coral Beach was three parts of a length back in third.
"He's a fine big strong colt and he did it nicely. He had a good run first time out at Limerick and he progressed from it," said Weld.
"He got a little bit tired going to the line but I thought he did it well.
"He's progressive and we'll see how he comes on before making plans."
