Would You Believe and Colin Keane mowed down Kion in the shadow of the post to land a morning-price gamble at the Curragh.

The Dream Ahead juvenile was making his debut in the six-furlong maiden for Ger Lyons and finished with a flourish in the final 100 yards to get up and collar Kion by a head.

From as big as 10/1 this morning, he was supported down to 4/1. Runner-up Kion was an 8/1 chance. Powersville put in her best performance, on this her third start, by finishing third at 50/1. Bond Street the 11/8 favourite, faded out of contention at the business end to come home home fifth. This was a drop in trip for him after three runs over seven furlongs.

Assistant trainer Shane Lyons said: "Colin had this horse as a breeze up and he always liked him. He sold Reckless Endeavour to Vincent (Gaul, owner).

"We don't really like them going to the breeze ups so it was a no-brainer. We brought him up to the yard and he never went back to Colin's.

"He handles the ground being by Dream Ahead and Colin feels he could handle it a bit better and a bit worse so that's an advantage this time of the year. He could drop back to five furlongs as well.

"For one of ours to win first-time out is great. There is an awful lot of improvement and he was green beforehand. He's a nice genuine horse and Colin was adamant that he was for Vincent even before we got him."
